Additional

A: Avonmore has three Linux training options available, for people who get attracted to SFD and FOSS, which is useful to the FOSS Community:

  1. Boot camp – targets Windows sysadmins (size 8, estimated adoption potential 50%).

  2. Evening class – general users, adults & beginners (8, 25%).

  3. Holiday program – kids, gamers (12, 10%).

The information releases & flyers we put out have to navigate all these Linux markets.

Rik suggested that Avonmore adopt Linux as a point of differentiation in the computer training marketplace, with an eye to local electronics firms, embedded devices, and C programming – Linux strengths & opportunity. Gordon invited Rik to join Avonmore's Industry Advisory Committee, and he is happy to participate.

B: A candidate's forum is to be organised, through CLUG or GLU, before September's NZ General Elections. This will inform people about FOSS, and promote SFD as a FOSS access point. The forum is an entirely separate event organisation to SFD, however.
