Water Forum series 2, meeting notes #8 ************************************** 21-March-2010 ~ wf8-21mar10.txt Meeting A. 14-March-2010 7.30pm @ the Water Environment Centre; 8 attended. 1. Informal circle, rather than Water Forum speeches format. Progress made on resolving Water Festival rifts, debate around Centre sponsorship & use, etc. 2. Freshwater focus reinstated. Form a campaign group? Name? Many ideas and views tabled, re: 3. Attack on local democracy and regional resource management to be countered. 4. Meeting to be built mid-April, central Chch, depending on what other groups are doing - research, link in, invite wider participation in a Water Forum event. 11.10pm meeting closed. Meeting B. 21-March-2010 7.30pm @ the Water Environment Centre; 8 attended. 1. Informal circle, with a speaking order used briefly to separate out discussion topics. a: preparing for "Canterbury - Our Water!" rally tomorrow & challenge upon ECan / public representation in decision-making around water. RMA, LGA and Canterbury Water Management Strategy discussed - water politics intro. 2. A new, active committee has been formed, to run a "Saving Public Water" forum of water activist groups and interested parties, @ WEA on Sat 10 April 4-7pm. The Saving Public Water committee meets again next Monday, 29-March-2010, 7.30pm @ the Water Environment Centre. Speaking order draft begun - 5-10 mins each main group. 3. b: Some discussion was begun on useful slogans, demands, and alternative land use proposals to put forward. 4. Some discussion was begun on the meaning and purpose of the Water Forum - "healing educational democracy" - equal speaking opportunity, self-directed learning, etc. Meeting C. 28-March-2010 7.30pm @ the Water Environment Centre; ~ more notes soon..
